The SMS Pull API is used by your system to retrieve messages on a periodic basis. This is suitable for situations where it is not possible, or desirable, to expose an Internet accessible service to EMS in order to implement the Push SMS API. Further, the SMS Pull API is used when recovering from a outage of your systems, should this occur.
In each API there are one or more services/methods used to retrieve messages from the Inbox.
Polling
The appropriate API method is generaly called on a regular basis to retrieve messages that have arrived into the account Inbox. The maximum recommended poll frequency is every 30 seconds. Should your application require lower latencies than this, it is recommended that you use the SMS Push API.
