First Choice is one of the UK’s leading charter airlines. It has incorporated Esendex’s Web SMS service into its management communication system.
If there are any problems - like significant delays caused by technical difficulties with a plane, or for instance the recent hurricanes in Florida which left planes and thousands of holidaymakers grounded - then the airline’s operational team can easily and quickly inform those involved, from supervisers overseas to cabin crew managers in the UK.
Esendex engineers have helped First Choice set up several different user groups so that staff can type in a message and send it instantly to as many as fifty people in the space of a few seconds. Philip Smallwood, Head of Flight Operations for First Choice said:
"We could email people, but we prefer to communicate by mobile because our managers are rarely at their desks.Text messaging takes pressure off the operations team - it saves them having to ring lots of people individually or have people constantly ringing in to find out what’s happening. That means it is cost effective too.
We had been using another text messaging company but they proved very unreliable; their system kept breaking down."
First Choice is now expanding Web SMS into other areas of the business, including the emergency response group which deals with any serious crisis to hit the airline.
