Exchange 5.5

To establish an outbound SMS facility for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 clients you can create an SMTP Connector for the Esendex Messenger service.

  1. Start Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
  2. In the left pane, navigate to your site and click Connections.

    If the Connections folder is empty, you will first need to install the Internet Mail Service. For more information, see the topic Operations -> Internet Mail Service in Microsoft Exchange Server books online.

  3. Double click the Internet Mail Service item to display its properties.
  4. To set up the connection to Esendex:
    1. Click the Connections tab
    2. Click E-Mail Domain.
    3. Click Add.
    4. In the E-Mail Domain box, type esendex.net
    5. Click the Forward all messages... option and type ems.esendex.net into the box.
    6. Click OK to close the Add E-Mail Domain dialog box.
    7. Click OK to close the E-Mail Domains dialog box.
  5. To set up authentication:
    1. Click the Security tab.
    2. Click Add.
    3. In the E-Mail domain box, type esendex.net
    4. Click the SASL/SSL security option.
    5. Unselect the SSL encryption option.
    6. Click the Change button next to Account.
    7. In the Account box, enter your Esendex account details in the form <AccountReference>\<Username>, for example EX0001234\person@mycompany.com
    8. In the Password box, type your Esendex password.
    9. Click OK to close the SASL/AUTH dialog box.
    10. Click OK to close the Edit E-Mail Domain dialog box.
    11. Click OK to close the Internet Mail Service dialog box.

Users can now send messages to <MobileNumber>@esendex.net for text SMS and <MobileNumber>@voice.esendex.net for voice SMS.
